About The Position

Established in 1992, Preventative Aftercare is committed to keeping families together by providing quality home-based services to at-risk children, youth, adolescents and their families in their homes, schools and communities. We are looking for community-based in-home Mental Health Workers and Mental Health Professionals (counselors) for the Community Based Program. George Junior Republic Preventative Aftercare is committed to assisting youth and families in establishing safety, permanency, stability and well-being. The Counselor in this distinct, community-based position will provide services and trauma informed care to a caseload of seven to ten youth and families in need of counseling for mental health and/or behavioral health and are referred throughout the county by Children & Youth Services and/or Juvenile Probation. The counselor will provide services within the community, schools and homes. The counselor will utilize evidence based practices and various treatment modalities to engage youth and families. Collaboration with schools, mental health agencies, substance abuse services, public assistance programs and other community support organizations is a priority for this position.

Requirements

  • Mental Health Worker (counselor): Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field REQUIRED.
  • Mental Health Professional (counselor): Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Must live in/near the county
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work a non-traditional schedule

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years' experience in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field PREFERRED but not required (for Mental Health Worker).
  • A minimum of two years' experience in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field PREFERRED but not required (for Mental Health Professional).
  • Professional licensure preferred, but not required.
