Counselor (Full Time /Tues-Thurs 11a-7p & Fri/Sat 7a-3p)
About The Position
This is a full-time Counselor position with a specific schedule of Tuesday-Thursday from 11 am to 7 pm and Friday/Saturday from 7 am to 3 pm. The role involves developing individualized treatment and discharge plans, coordinating services with external organizations, and facilitating group and individual counseling sessions. The Counselor will also support resident participation in self-help groups, assist with medication procedures, conduct screenings, and manage new resident assessments and orientations. On-call coverage and accurate documentation are also key aspects of the role.
Requirements
- Masters Degree in Human Services or related field and a minimum of 6 months counseling experience. Field placement as an intern may be applied to the required counseling experience.
- Must possess and maintain a current Qualified Health Professional status.
- Bachelors Degree in Human Services or a related field and a minimum of one year counseling experience. Field placement as an intern may be applied to required counseling experience.
- Must possess and maintain a current Qualified Health Professional status.
- Associates Degree in Human Services or a related field; must possess and maintain a current Qualified Health Professional status and two years counseling experience in the appropriate field.
- Field placement as an intern may be applied to required counseling experience.
- Able to ensure confidentiality
- Must possess a New York State driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Responsibilities
- Develops individualized treatment and discharge plans for residents
- Makes referrals, coordinates services, and maintains regular and on-going consultations with other organizations
- Coordinates the vocational and educational goals of residents
- Facilitates group and individual counseling sessions
- Supports and encourages resident participation in community self-help groups
- Assists in the oversight of program medication procedures
- Conducts breathalyzer and toxicology screenings
- Facilitates new resident assessments, admissions, and orientations
- Available for on-call coverage when needed
- Completes documentation per agency requirements
- Data input and word processing
