About The Position

The Cameron/Willacy Counties Community Supervision & Corrections Department is seeking a Counselor (Lcdc) to join their team in Brownsville, Texas. This role involves interviewing offenders, conducting assessments and evaluations, and developing treatment plans. The counselor will collaborate with supervising officers and conduct individual and group counseling sessions for offenders in a residential treatment facility. Additional duties may be assigned by the Director and/or Deputy Director.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or its equivalent
  • Hold the LCDC credential
  • Experience in a substance abuse treatment setting
  • Experience with offender and/or mental health populations
  • Knowledge of general office procedures, codes, policies, and practices
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing in both English and Spanish languages
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Interview offenders
  • Conduct assessments and/or evaluations
  • Formulate treatment plans including behavioral objectives, action plans, and treatment interventions based on observational data
  • Staff findings of the evaluation with the assigned supervising officer
  • Conduct individual and/or group counseling sessions for offenders court ordered to participate in the residential treatment facility
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Director and/or Deputy Director
