About The Position

Join us at an exciting moment as The Bright Path Center launches this summer, bringing integrated behavioral health and substance use services together under one roof. The Counselor role is a vital, frontline clinical position within our withdrawal management and crisis stabilization environment, providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. As a Counselor, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, delivering person-centered, trauma-informed services that promote stabilization, recovery, and successful transitions to ongoing care. This role directly supports lifesaving interventions and strengthens the community’s access to high-quality behavioral health treatment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, addiction studies or a related human services field
  • One year of clinical experience in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria and withdrawal management
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without accommodation

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, addiction studies with active or eligible clinical licensure
  • Preferred Certifications: CAAC, CADC, CAADC, CCS
  • Direct experience in substance abuse treatment, crisis intervention, or behavioral health settings

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services using evidence-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered approaches
  • Complete screenings, intakes, and comprehensive assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations, suicide risk assessments, and ASAM level-of-care determinations
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans aligned with client needs, medical necessity, and regulatory standards
  • Support clients in withdrawal management, crisis stabilization, and early recovery
  • Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation services to individuals experiencing acute emotional or behavioral distress
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing and Motivational Enhancement Therapy strategies to explore ambivalence, strengthen readiness for change, increase treatment participation, and support client-centered recovery goals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record, PA WITS, REDCap, and other required systems
  • Coordinate care with internal teams, hospitals, crisis services, and community providers to ensure continuity of care and safe transitions
  • Provide case management services in accordance with DDAP and OMHSAS standards, including linkage to medical, recovery, behavioral health, and social services
  • Facilitate discharge and aftercare planning, including follow-up appointments and community referrals
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and quality improvement activities
  • Obtain and maintain DDAP-recognized clinical credentials, or actively participate in an approved supervision and training plan to achieve certification within required timeframes
