About The Position

We are seeking caring, compassionate, mission driven Counselors to work specifically with children and their families who have come to the attention of the child protective investigation division of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, and who have been determined to be safe but at high risk of future child abuse, and neglect. Together We Rise (TWR) will work with all members of the family with a team based approach in a supportive, empowering and respectful manner to assist the family with creating safe and stable parenting practices to facilitate long-term behavior change that will ensure that children are safe in their home. The counselor will provide exclusively in home therapeutic services aimed at strengthening the protective capacities of the primary and secondary care givers in the home, while ensuring focus is on the identification and resolution of interpersonal conflicts such as domestic violence and resolving trauma related to Adverse Childhood Experiences. The counselor will be an active participant at the Integrated Decision Team (IDT) process and will provide face to face visits with the family according to the frequency required in order to mitigate risk of future abuse or neglect of the child(ren). This is a field based position and all services must be provided face to face. There is no opportunity for the provision of services from a remote location and services are not provided virtually. The counselor understands that they must start where the client is, utilizing a strength based, emotional support approach to help the client identify their strengths and build upon those elements. Directions for Living is an essential services provider. All Directions for Living employees must be willing and able to provide vital support and essential services to the people that we serve in the event of an emergency, pandemic or other disaster situation.

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk populations to include families experiencing substance misuse, domestic violence, mental health, and emotionally disturbed children.
  • All services must be provided face to face.
  • No opportunity for the provision of services from a remote location.
  • Services are not provided virtually.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) preferred.
