About The Position

The Counselor is responsible for providing academic, career, and social-emotional counseling services to students. This role involves collaborating with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to support student success and well-being. The Counselor will also be involved in developing and implementing programs to address student needs and promote a positive school environment.

Requirements

Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.
Valid state counseling license or certification.
Experience working with adolescents in a school setting.
Knowledge of child development, learning theories, and counseling techniques.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, families, and staff.
Proficiency in using technology for counseling and record-keeping.

Nice To Haves

Experience with academic advising and college admissions processes.
Knowledge of special education and intervention strategies.
Bilingual skills (specify language if applicable).

Responsibilities

Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, career, and social-emotional issues.
Develop and implement academic and career plans for students.
Assist students in understanding and navigating post-secondary options, including college and vocational training.
Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support student learning and development.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
Develop and deliver programs on topics such as stress management, conflict resolution, and college readiness.
Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
Participate in school-wide initiatives and committees to promote a positive school climate.
Stay current with best practices in school counseling and relevant educational policies.
