About The Position
The Counselor in training, under the supervision of a clinical supervisor or their designee, will provide counseling services for persons with substance use disorders and their families. This individual is a person working towards CADC certification who is gaining supervised experience in providing counseling, education, and support to clients with substance abuse issues and their families.
Requirements
- Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CADC) within 2 years - Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA)
- Associate's Degree: Related Field

Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of a licensed clinician, provide counseling services to patients and their families through individual and/or group settings.
- Identify concerns and make referrals to others when needed with guidance and support from supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all forms, assessments and file management paperwork as directed.
- Facilitate and effectively utilize evidence-based practices in individual and group counseling settings.
- Complete ASAM based alcohol and drug assessments and develop treatment recommendations and plans with support of supervisor.
- Helps patients and families identify resources in their community which support ongoing recovery journey.
