The Counselor and Support Supervisor, School-Based will provide administrative supervision to the FRC/SBHC Coordinator. The Counselor and Support Supervisor, School-Based supports the Manager in the areas of program development and community outreach. The Counselor and Support Supervisor, School-Based will develop relationships with school administration and teaching staff, provide limited interventions/behavioral coaching when additional capacity is needed, and will act as Signature Health’s primary behavioral health liaison to school leadership. The Counselor and Support Supervisor, School-Based will provide structured guidance and education to teachers, and ensure the quality of, and commitment to, excellent treatment within the school-based setting. The Counselor and Support Supervisor, School-Based will provide individual counseling and crisis support to students and community members.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree required.
  • Valid unencumbered license in the state of Ohio required; Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Professional Clinical Counselors (PCC) required.
  • LISW-S or LPCC-S required within month of hire.
  • 3 years of experience in the Behavioral Health field required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of supervisory or management success strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in, providing services to, or treating school-based clients preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the treatment and care of children, adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Strong clinical skills in developing treatment plans, writing progress notes and conducting psychosocial assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage and oversee the daily objectives of the school-based behavioral health provider team in designated school, as identified by the Manager.
  • Tracks school paid students, monitoring monthly billing and utilization of school resources, as delegated by Manager.
  • Oversees team member’s individual performance, which should include ongoing coaching, development, and meeting objectives through the annual review process.
  • Lead by example by provide ongoing communication, teaching, and training to team members.
  • Actively lead team meetings and process improvement initiatives to continuously reach more patients, improve work productivity, quality and efficiency of the team.
  • Plan and oversee School Behavioral support programs, including the development of treatment plans and documentation/progress notes.
  • Provide leadership to the school-based behavioral health services staff and FRC Coordinator through appropriate decision-making, work assignment allocations, supervision, reviews, consultation, training and support.
  • Assist in resolving client grievances related to the school-based services team.
  • Provide expertise to team members when dealing with crisis intervention.
  • Ensure school-based behavioral health specialist practice is within scope of their role and respective licensing/certifying boards.
  • Provide the team with clinical training opportunities for continuous development.
  • Monitor compliance to legal guidelines, internal policies and quality standards; ensures maintenance of clinical documentation of school-based behavioral health staff in accordance with OMHAS standards and school contract obligations.
  • Track key performance indicators, to show trends, recognize successful performance by staff members, and uncover potential problem areas in the school-based practice.
  • Assist in the strategic planning and implementation of growth strategies for services.
  • Act as a representative of Signature Health to the school and community.
  • Maintain client charting in accordance with Medicaid, JCAHO, ODADAS, ODMH, CARF and professional standards. All documentation will be entered into the agency Electronic Medical Record per Signature Health policies and procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate caseload to facilitate and meet school contract/student needs, community needs, and service expectations.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments for referred students and community consumers, incorporating input from individuals, parents and educational staff, and behavioral health team members. These will be conducted at a location convenient for the family, including school, office or home.
