About The Position

Vance Thompson Vision is seeking a Counselor/PA Lead to support patient education, clinic flow, team development, and daily clinic operations. The role helps ensure patients understand the expectations and financial obligations associated with surgery, along with eye drops, post-operative care, insurance coverage, and other relevant information. The lead also supports communication and collaboration within the department and across teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Stay fluent with surgeon schedules and help with patient education and patient flow within the clinic.
• Ensure patients are educated before surgery about expectations, financial obligations, eye drops, post-operative care, insurance coverage, and other relevant information.
• Triage patient phone calls and answer questions or resolve concerns as directed to achieve patient satisfaction.
• Assist with onboarding and training new hires, and provide mentorship and coaching on departmental processes.
• Ensure post-operative appointments are scheduled promptly and financial obligations are collected before surgery.
• Report team progress to support effective team and inter-departmental communication.
• Help lead and motivate team members by assisting with daily clinic and/or galley operations.
• Maintain positive group dynamics between patient advocates and surgical counselors to support collaboration.
• Participate in departmental cross-training, including ophthalmic assistant, scribe, and surgical counselor areas.
