About The Position

The Mental Health Counselor and Outreach Coordinator has the primary responsibility for direct mental health counseling services (diagnostic, assessment, crisis intervention and brief psychotherapy) to all Le Moyne College students but will maintain a specific focus on working with historically underrepresented students and first-generation students. This involves a focus on providing culturally responsive care and will collaborate with campus and community partners to engage in meaningful advocacy, psycho-educational outreach, and clinical intervention designed to promote student success and well-being interventions. This position will be responsible to provide leadership in the ongoing development and implementation of culturally inclusive and innovative mental health outreach to all students. This is a full time 10-month position with an annual work period of 8/16-6/15.

Requirements

• Masters’ degree in Mental Health or Social work or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Counselor Education, from a CACREP or APA accredited program, or closely related field.
• License (or license eligible within 6 months) to practice mental health in New York State required.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience providing direct mental health services
• Experience providing crisis intervention services
• Experience in providing brief, solution focused psychotherapy
• Experience in working with historically marginalized populations through culturally responsive individual, group and community interventions
• Experience in providing educational programming to large groups

Nice To Haves

• Clinical experience in a college counseling center setting is strongly preferred
• A holistic, wellness philosophy and approach is preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, and group psychotherapy to a broad range of students from undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional student populations
• Provide crisis intervention to students experiencing emotional crisis
• Provide emergency on-call services to students in crisis and/or consultation with other college personnel on a rotating basis
• Provide case management, collaboration with key personnel, and continuity of care, including referrals to community providers
• Develop and initiate culturally sensitive outreach, prevention and wellness programming for a diverse range of student concerns and issues
• Develop and initiate education and training programs for faculty, staff, and administrators as partners in the wellbeing of all students
• Provides a level of engagement in working with historically underrepresented students towards their personal development, well-being, and academic success, through culturally responsive individual, group and community.
• Demonstrates and role-models all of Le Moyne’s mission-based competencies (collaboration, communication, diversity, integrity, leadership and service) in every interaction with all community members and external parties.
• Strengthen digital literacy skills through education and the application of digital technologies in order to effectively engage in information gathering, utilization and data management while promoting a security culture.
