About The Position

Under close clinical supervision and administrative direction, provides counseling services to students with educational, emotional and social problems. Performs duties as an intern trainee within Counseling Service’s American Psychological Association accredited pre-doctoral psychology training program. Reports to the Associate Director Training Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Basic knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures of psychological clinical assessment, counseling and therapy.
  • Basic skill in working with populations.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Basic skill in ethical and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Under close supervision, provides individual, and group counseling services in a time-limited service delivery model.
  • Under close supervision, provides emergency and/or after-hours and on-call services as assigned.
  • Under close supervision, provides outreach programming to the campus community.
  • Under close supervision, provides consultation services to faculty, staff, and university departments.
  • Supervises practicum students.
  • Participates in agency program evaluation and research.
  • Performs additional professional services based on individual skill and interests consistent with agency need.
  • Engages in training and professional development activities.
  • Work collaboratively across various departments within the University as well as with populations and groups to achieve objectives.
  • Professionally represent department/program.
  • Use critical thinking to make decisions.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
