The Student Wellness Center provides caring, quality, integrated, student-centered health, counseling, and wellness promotion services to SJSU students in support of their ability to perform optimally, physically, and mentally. Within Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), professionally trained clinicians are available for students on an individual, couple, or group basis for therapeutic services on a variety of psychological and mental health issues. In addition to direct clinical services, the Counselor Faculty may provide campus outreach, training, and consultation to students, faculty, and staff. Under the general supervision of the Director and Associate Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, the selected candidate is expected to provide a full range of culturally sensitive clinical mental health services to support San José State students. Although listed as a “temporary” position, this is a full-time position, eligible for annual renewal and is benefit-eligible for the full-suite of the robust benefits provided to California State University employees. AY-schedule employees work during all duty days of the Academic Year and do not accrue vacation. 12-month employees work all days the campus is open, including times when classes are not in session, but receive 14 paid holidays per year and are eligible to accrue up to 24 vacation days per year. The anticipated salary for this position starts at $7,100/month (AY-schedule) or $7,800/month (12-month) for individuals with a masters degree and the minimum of 2 years of experience. A doctorate degree, additional years of experience, and experience providing therapy in another language will all increase pay, though compensation is expected not to exceed $9,200/month (AY-schedule) or $10,000/month (12-month).
