COUNSELOR AIDE: Varied 8-hr Shifts
About The Position
This is a great opportunity to work in the behavioral healthcare field. Our substance use disorder unit shift available 8-hour shifts with the following available: Per Diem 2 days a week 6:30am – 3:00pm including weekend rotation OR Full-time 2 days a week 6:30am – 3:00pm and 3 days a week 11am – 7:30pm including weekend rotation OR Full-time 5 days a week 11am – 7:30pm including weekend rotation OR Full-time 5 days a week 2:30pm – 11:00pm with weekend rotation. Roxbury Treatment Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., has been a beacon of hope and healing for 40 years, serving those struggling with behavioral health and substance use issues. Located in Shippensburg, PA., our 112-bed behavioral health facility offers acute psychiatric, detoxification, and rehabilitation services for adults as well as an adolescent inpatient psychiatric program for youth ages 13-17. We also have two substance use disorder outpatient offices in Carlisle and Chambersburg. Our mission is to provide high-quality behavioral health services in an environment that values service excellence, respect, and ethical standards, integrity, compassion, and teamwork. The Counselors Aide provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Driver's License with safe driving record
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in a psychology-related field is highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Monitors unit milieu and helps to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
- Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule
- Conducts patient observation rounds throughout the shift to ensure safety
- Works collaboratively with unit nursing staff on patient care activities
- Responds to patient crisis events accordingly using de-escalation techniques.
