About The Position

The Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is seeking a compassionate, bilingual professional to serve as a Counselor Advocate. This role involves providing trauma-informed counseling, case management, advocacy, and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting survivors, advancing social justice, building trusting relationships, navigating complex systems with compassion, and collaborating to connect survivors with necessary resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed case management and supportive counseling, including needs assessments, individualized service plans, and safety planning.
  • Advocate for and support survivors navigating legal, immigration, housing, public benefits, education, healthcare, and other systems.
  • Connect survivors with appropriate resources and services through referrals, advocacy, and accompaniment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, reports, and other required documentation while protecting survivor privacy and confidentiality.
  • Facilitate bilingual support groups and participate in community outreach and educational workshops as needed.
  • Collaborate with VIP staff and external providers and participate in supervision, trainings, case conferences, and program meetings.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements and provide program coverage in Manhattan or Queens as needed.
