About The Position

Family Therapy Group of Weston is now accepting applications for our 2026 Counseling Student Intern Program . This opportunity is designed for Master’s-level students completing external practicum requirements through Florida International University's , Professional Counseling Psychology program (PCP) . At Family Therapy Group of Weston, we are dedicated to supporting the emotional wellbeing of individuals, children, teens, couples, and families. Our practice works with clients facing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, family conflict, and communication challenges. We believe in compassionate, relationship-centered care and value the important role interns play in learning and growing within a supportive clinical environment. As a Counseling Student Intern, you will have opportunities to shadow therapy sessions, participate in co-therapy, and provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and families under supervision. You will also gain experience with evidence-based approaches used to treat relationship issues, family conflict, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other presenting concerns. This is a non-paid practicum experience . Interns receive one hour of individual clinical supervision and one hour of Clinical Case Consultation each week. Additional guidance is available from a site supervisor as needed. Monica Arroyo, LCSW, Clinical Director , and Madison Wolfe, Licensed Mental Health Counselor , work closely with each student’s graduate program and faculty supervisor to help ensure all university and program requirements are met. Applicants will be notified within 5 to 10 business days if selected for an interview.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Professional Counseling Psychology degree at FIU
  • Strong interest in learning evidence-based approaches for a variety of mental health concerns
  • Interest in working with children, teens, families, and parenting-related concerns
  • Strong ethical and professional boundaries
  • Teachable, motivated, and open to feedback
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions
  • Ability to commit to at least one evening each week for client appointments to support direct hour requirements

Responsibilities

  • Shadow therapy sessions
  • Participate in co-therapy
  • Provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and families under supervision
