About The Position

The Counseling Assistant works with the master level clinicians to provide in-home or community-based mental health treatment planning, case management, referrals, crisis planning and support for families with children in two primary subgroups: ages zero through three and ages four through twenty. Services provided to clients in Jackson and Hillsdale counties during traditional and non-traditional hours allowing for a flexible schedule. Paperwork and documentation may be performed remotely, as there is no expectation to be in the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the mental health field or social services
  • At least one year experience working with children and adults (internship will be considered)
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Non-judgmental
  • Observant
  • Passion for helping others
  • State licensure commensurate with position requirement (Consideration given if currently in process of obtaining or ability to obtain.)
  • One year or more experience in coordinating services for children and families
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to show sensitivity to the service populations’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
