Counsel

FabfitfunBeverly Hills, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

FabFitFun is seeking a Counsel to work closely with our General Counsel in managing the legal affairs of a dynamic e-commerce and consumer product company. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk reviewing contracts in isolation. We’re looking for someone who thrives as a true generalist - a pragmatic, business-minded attorney who gets energized by variety, moves fast, and builds real relationships with the teams they support. You’ll be embedded across the organization, touching everything from complex commercial deals and marketing compliance to product launches, consumer disputes, and privacy matters. We’re also a company that takes AI seriously - not as a buzzword, but as a real part of how we operate. We’re actively building AI-powered tools and workflows across the business, and we want a lawyer who is genuinely curious about what that means for legal practice: someone who embraces AI as a force multiplier, stays current on the evolving legal landscape around it, and helps us move faster and smarter as a result. You don’t need a decade of experience. You need sound judgment, strong instincts, and the ability to quickly pivot from “here’s the issue” to “here’s the practical path forward.”

Requirements

  • J.D. from a top-tier law school (preferred)
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar (or eligibility for registered in-house counsel status)
  • 5–7 years of relevant legal experience, either in-house or at a major law firm, with demonstrated breadth across commercial, compliance, and/or litigation matters
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial transactions; experience with manufacturing, supply, and purchase agreements with domestic and international factories and vendors a plus
  • Working knowledge of consumer protection, advertising compliance, and/or privacy law strongly preferred
  • Experience managing outside litigation counsel and overseeing dispute resolution strategies
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and a willingness to work at its forefront - you follow developments in AI law and policy, actively use AI tools to enhance your own work, and aren’t waiting for someone else to figure it out
  • Smart, personable, pragmatic, and diligent
  • Comfortable keeping pace in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Able to adapt to evolving business needs while knowing when and where not to compromise

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in a legal context — contract review, research, drafting, or workflow automation
  • Experience in eCommerce, subscription, or DTC environments
  • Familiarity with consumer-facing platforms, logistics providers, or supply chain vendors
  • Any background in change management, process redesign, or legal operations

Responsibilities

  • Handle and advise business units on a significant volume of commercial agreements, including merchandise purchasing, licensing agreements, social media marketing, warehouse and fulfillment operations, and SaaS, AI and other technology agreements.
  • Advise and support the Operations team on matters relating to supply chain management, logistics, quality control, and sourcing.
  • Negotiate the legal terms of some of the company’s most important deals across all areas of the business.
  • Assist in creating and rolling out policies and procedures relating to contract and risk management, and conduct training on these topics.
  • Advise the Marketing and Creative teams on advertising and promotional content to ensure compliance with FTC guidelines, state consumer protection laws, and platform-specific requirements.
  • Review and provide guidance on sweepstakes, contests, loyalty programs, subscription terms, and other consumer-facing initiatives.
  • Monitor developments in consumer protection law and proactively advise on emerging compliance obligations, including those arising from the use of AI in marketing and customer interactions.
  • Serve as a key legal resource on privacy and data security matters, including compliance with CCPA/CPRA and other applicable U.S. and international privacy regulations.
  • Partner with the Technology and Product teams to review data practices, vendor data processing agreements, and privacy-related product features - including those involving AI-driven personalization.
  • Support the development and maintenance of privacy policies, internal data governance frameworks, and data incident response protocols.
  • Partner with the Product and Technology teams to provide legal guidance on new product features, platform updates, and consumer-facing rollouts from concept through launch.
  • Identify and advise on legal risks associated with new product initiatives, including intellectual property, consumer protection, privacy, and regulatory considerations.
  • Help develop scalable legal review processes to support the pace of product development and innovation, leveraging AI tools where appropriate to increase the legal team’s own throughput.
  • Stay current on the fast-evolving legal and regulatory landscape around artificial intelligence, including model liability, IP ownership of AI-generated outputs, and emerging federal and state AI legislation.
  • Manage and oversee outside counsel on litigation, regulatory inquiries, and pre-litigation disputes.
  • Evaluate legal exposure and develop strategies to resolve disputes efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Coordinate internal investigations and work cross-functionally to gather facts and assess risk.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the General Counsel, helping to prioritize and manage the legal department’s workload across the organization.
  • Advise business units on new initiatives and strategic partnerships.
  • Work hard addressing the varied legal needs of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company - and have a great time doing it with a wonderful, dynamic group of people.
