About The Position

Flex is building the AI-native private bank for business owners, re-architecting the entire financial system for entrepreneurs. Banking, credit, payments, personal finance, and financial operations are being rebuilt from the ground up as a single, intelligent system. Flex is the full financial home for ambitious owners. Since launching publicly in September 2023, Flex has scaled from zero to nine-figure annualized revenue, with a clear path to profitability by late 2026. The company moves fast, ships relentlessly, and operates with extreme ownership. Customers are affluent business owners ($3–$200M in revenue) who are underserved by outdated banks and fragmented tools. The opportunity is massive, with a ~$1T+ revenue market. Flex has raised $100M+ in equity and $300M+ in debt. The company focuses on mission-critical problems, building software that directly controls how money moves at scale. They operate with a high bar and low ego in small teams with exceptional people and real ownership, prioritizing speed over comfort by focusing on execution, quality, clarity, and results. The goal is to build something that will define how a generation of owners runs their businesses.

Requirements

J.D. from an accredited law school and an active bar license, or eligibility to become admitted promptly.
0–2 years of legal experience. Law firm, in-house, government, judicial clerkship, and other relevant legal experience will all be considered.
Strong academic, legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, thoughtful work.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
Good judgment, including knowing when to work through an issue independently and when to ask for help.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with lawyers and non-lawyers across the company.
An interest in contracts and commercial work and a desire to develop strong drafting and negotiation skills.
An interest in fintech, financial services, technology, or startups. Prior experience in these areas is helpful, but not required.
Curiosity about AI and a willingness to learn how to use it responsibly to research, draft, analyze, and work more efficiently.
A willingness to take on a broad range of assignments and learn different areas of an in-house legal practice.
Genuine excitement about Flex and the opportunity to grow as a lawyer while helping us build the company.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and revise commercial agreements, including NDAs, vendor agreements, customer contracts, and other day-to-day agreements across the business.
Support contract negotiations by preparing drafts and redlines, researching issues, and working with senior members of the Legal team to resolve open points.
Assist with product and regulatory matters, including researching legal requirements, reviewing product materials and disclosures, and helping prepare terms, policies, notices, and other customer-facing materials.
Research federal and state laws and regulations affecting Flex and help turn that research into clear, practical guidance for the Legal & Compliance team and our business partners.
Support regulatory and licensing work, including preparing filings, gathering information, maintaining records, and helping respond to requests from regulators, banks, and other partners.
Assist with disputes, litigation, collections, and recovery matters, including researching claims, organizing records, preparing correspondence, and coordinating with internal teams and outside counsel.
Help maintain Flex's corporate records and support governance and other general corporate matters.
Work directly with teams across Flex to gather facts, understand business needs, and help the Legal team respond quickly and effectively.
Help build and improve the templates, playbooks, processes, and tools we use to make the Legal function more efficient.
Use AI and other technology as part of your everyday practice, and help us find new ways to automate routine legal work and make the entire team better.
