About The Position

Arbella is seeking a mid-level associate to join its in-house legal team in downtown Boston. This is a hybrid position, combining in-person work at the Boston office with remote work. The legal team is composed of experienced attorneys and legal professionals focused on teamwork, collegiality, and delivering excellent legal services. The role involves representing Arbella insureds in tort litigation, developing legal strategies, and collaborating with claims professionals. Experience reviewing insurance contracts is a plus.

Requirements

A JD degree
Ability to work with attorneys to develop strategies on a case
Must be admitted to practice law in Massachusetts
3-6 years of insurance defense litigation experience
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong critical thinking skills
Adaptability and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

Having some experience reviewing insurance contracts is also a plus
Admittance to the Bars in CT, NH and/or RI a plus

Responsibilities

Represent Arbella insureds in the defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits
Interview clients and witnesses
Prepare for and conduct depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
Prepare and argue motions in courts throughout Massachusetts
Provide advice and assistance to colleagues in Arbella’s Claim Department and other business units
Negotiate settlements
Provide support to Senior Counsel on cases and projects
Monitor and stay abreast of caselaw
Conduct legal research and draft memoranda
Conduct detailed research and memo writing on novel issues
Handle tort litigation from start to finish
Develop legal strategy
Collaborate with claim professionals and Arbella insureds
