About The Position

In collaboration with the Costume Designer and artistic team, organize all costume production elements, including production schedules, purchasing, pulling of garments, fitting preparations, fittings, rentals and purchases, piece lists, dressing room lists, and measurements. In collaboration with the Director of Production, organize and hire all costume shop personnel. Track hours worked for the costume shop and observe best practices for team and project management. Advise Opera Company on feasibility, cost, and best practices for all designed costume elements. Maintain shop budgets and advise Opera Company as needed. In collaboration with Stage Management, provide rehearsal costumes an answer any concerns that arise with performers during the rehearsal process. Attendance is required at Production Meetings, Final Room Run, and all Technical Rehearsals.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of the design process.
  • Professional comportment and appearance.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years working in a professional or educational environment
  • Strong Opera and/or Theatre Costume Production experience.
  • Access to a vehicle and driver’s license are necessary. Mileage compensation is provided.
  • Work hours may exceed 40 hours per week, especially during tech weeks.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.

The Foundation does not offer fully remote work for any positions. Applicants who reside in any other state would be required to be physically located in and provide a local address in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia prior to starting work for Wolf Trap Foundation.
