About The Position

The Cost Engineer at Gordian acts as a technical authority for construction cost data development. This role leads complex projects, ensures adherence to best practices, and mentors engineers to elevate team capabilities. The Cost Engineer will oversee development and validation of cost data for multiple disciplines, ensuring consistency and accuracy. They will lead large-scale updates and enhancements to cost databases and assemblies, serving as a subject matter expert for construction methods, codes, and cost modeling. Additionally, this role involves mentoring engineers and associate engineers, providing guidance on methodology and quality standards, and collaborating with product teams to align data development with customer needs and market trends. The Cost Engineer will also drive process improvements and contribute to strategic initiatives for data reliability and efficiency. Additional responsibilities include leading Agile workstreams, facilitating backlog refinement, and ensuring sprint goals align with product strategy, as well as partnering with the Product Owner to translate business needs into actionable tasks and provide technical insights for prioritization.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
8+ years of experience in construction estimating or engineering.
Proven leadership in managing complex data development projects.
Advanced knowledge of construction practices, codes, and cost modeling.
Strong communication and mentoring skills.
Ability to influence process improvements and strategic decisions.
