About The Position

Aquatech is seeking a full-time Cost Engineer for their Houston, TX location. This role involves performing duties related to costing and estimation, requiring technical strength, construction experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. The Cost Engineer will be responsible for generating and maintaining proposal-specific costing data, obtaining and verifying vendor/contractor quotes, and managing a proposal database. This includes developing and maintaining quote log files with pre-bid quote, project quote, and project PO data for various EPC-related items such as civil works, concrete, mechanical equipment installation, piping installation, site fabricated tanks, pipe racks and pipe supports, buildings, MEP building works, E & I installation, and BOP installation. The role also involves developing EPC RFQs, preparing material and labor manhour estimates, developing and maintaining vendor/contractor relationships, managing bids, performing detailed cost analysis, preparing estimates using software like RS Means & Sage and Aspen Estimating, and presenting estimates to management.

  • Highly proficient in using the estimating software ASPEN
  • Bachelor's Degree preferable
  • Minimum Ten (10) or more years of experience working as an Estimator
  • Experience in estimation of Civil works, Mechanical Installation works (Heavy Industrial), Building works, MEP, and E & I Installation works
  • In-depth knowledge of labor costs per trade and by region/ location
  • Hands-on experience with RS Means & Sage (Formerly Timberline) estimating software
  • Proficiency in ASPEN Estimating software

Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain proposal-specific costing data
  • Obtain vendor/contractor quotes and work in conjunction with Application Engineers during the proposal development stage
  • Cross-check quotations during the proposal development stage against project specifications and confirm compliance or request revisions from the vendor
  • Maintain proposal database
  • Develop and maintain existing quote log files with pre-bid quote, project quote, and project PO data for EPC-related items
  • Develop EPC RFQs, verifying supplier quotations against customer specifications to ensure compliance
  • Prepare material estimates and labor manhour estimates for installation activities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors and contractors
  • Manage bids from vendors and contractors
  • Use bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis
  • Prepare estimates using estimating software like RS Means & Sage (Formerly Timberline)
  • Proficient in Aspen Estimating software
  • Present prepared estimates to the Project Manager & Management
  • Compile and record actual costs
