Cost Engineer - Material Cost Specialist

About The Position

This role involves creating, analyzing, and validating component material costs and targets. The Cost Engineer will generate ground-up and detailed material cost estimates, including piece price and production tooling estimations. This position requires collaboration with internal cross-functional teams such as product engineering, purchasing and supply chain, and vehicle program teams, as well as global joint venture partners in China and the external component supply base. The role focuses on identifying accurate cost estimates and proposing cost reductions, while working with next-generation automotive vehicles and propulsion systems alongside leading automotive experts and technologies. Multiple positions are available. This role operates under a Hybrid Work Policy, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, with the ability to report to a local office.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field of study.
Three (3) years of experience as a Cost Estimator, Cost Engineer, or related occupation.
Three (3) years of experience with analyzing, organizing, and understanding large data sets.
Three (3) years of experience with comprehensive manufacturing process knowledge.
Three (3) years of experience with financial evaluation of technical concepts and comprehensive understanding of production processes.
Three (3) years of experience developing supplier component quotes to OEM’s.
Three (3) years of experience with manufacturing and/or launch experience in an automotive setting.
Three (3) years of experience with Interior Cockpit manufacturing processes including Injection molding, Low pressure Injection Molding (LPIM), Foam-In-Place Molding, IMG process, decorative trim processes, wrapping and sewing part manufacturing, sonic and vibration welding, and clip and screw assembly.
Three (3) years of experience with TcPCM quoting software.
Three (3) years of experience using Power BI/Data Analytics dashboards to estimate “high level costing” based on early engineering concepts without design availability.

Responsibilities

Create, analyze and validate component material costs and targets.
Generate ground-up and detailed material cost estimates that encompass both piece price estimations and production tooling estimations.
Collaborate with key internal cross functional peers.
Work with the product engineering team, the purchasing and supply chain team, the vehicle program team, our global joint venture partners in China, and to an extent the external component supply base.
Identify accurate cost estimates as well as proposed cost reductions.
Work with the next generation of automotive vehicles and propulsion systems while working with leading edge automotive experts and technologies.
