Cost Accounting Manager
About The Position
Brayman Construction Corporation, a leading heavy civil and geotechnical contractor with office headquarters in Saxonburg, is seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to join our exceptional team and play a pivotal role in our financial operations. This position earns a competitive salary and excellent benefits. The Cost Accounting Manager plays a critical role in supporting the financial success of our construction operations. This position is responsible for overseeing project and job costing, preparing financial projections and budgets, supporting month-end close and reporting, and providing leadership for the Job Cost functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with precision and attention to detail.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Thorough understanding of construction accounting principles and GAAP
- Familiarity with job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and project forecasting
Nice To Haves
- construction industry experience preferred
- Experience with Viewpoint Vista or similar construction ERP systems is a plus
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a plus
Responsibilities
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, forecasts, and actual cost records across multiple construction projects
- Identify cost variances and collaborate with project managers and superintendents to resolve discrepancies
- Support the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Complete monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and cost adjustments
- Assist with monthly financial forecasts and performance reporting for active projects
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process and periodic financial reviews
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and internal controls
- Track and report project data to assist with tax compliance and audit requirements
- Oversee the Job Cost functions and provide guidance to the staff
