About The Position

Hachette Book Group is seeking a talented Cost Accounting Manager to support our Finance team! This position will support the Director of Inventory with daily and monthly work requirements of the accounting department by preparing, reconciling, reviewing, and communicating accounting information. The ideal candidate will have IT/system knowledge and/or ERP implementation experience along with an accounting background. This person will manage a team of three staff accountants.

Requirements

  • BA in Accounting with 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in Cost accounting specifically.
  • Experience in Oracle Cloud Application.
  • Experience with ERP implementation.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Drives change and innovation by seeking improvements to existing processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through close attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience.
  • Ability to gather and analyze complex or diverse information in a timely and organized manner.
  • Understand business implications of decisions and have ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
  • Skilled in researching and collecting data, monitoring progress and preparing reports for special projects.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Results must be driven, and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed.
  • Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work and demonstrate good follow through.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze and create all related accounting with respect to Inventory Assets (WIP, Paper, etc.).
  • Responsible for the accuracy of HBG’s inventory including valuation and quantity.
  • Examine and authorize payment of all production invoices.
  • Prepare various month-end reports and analyses.
  • Participate in the creation of inventory-related and other special projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Collaboration with internal I.T. department to enhance current system.
  • Curious mindset to fully understand the inner workings of the Department.
  • Assist with quarterly Audits.
  • Manage a team of Staff accountants.
