About The Position

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a Cost Accountant to support its accounting functions. This role will focus on cost accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger accounting, with responsibilities including inventory accounting, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and auditing support. The position is based in Richmond, VA.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
At least 2 years of general ledger accounting or public accounting audit experience.
Good understanding of US GAAP.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems with multiple variables.
Experienced user of Microsoft Office software, budgeting, financial reporting and general ledger software.
Willing and capable of learning new systems and tools.
Demonstrates sound analytical depth and technical capability in finance and/or accounting methods, with the ability to multi-task and take ownership on tasks through completion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

Nice To Haves

Oracle experience preferred.
CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
Experience supporting a manufacturing environment preferred.
Advanced computer skills in Power Query, Power BI, Access, Oracle, or SQL are a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist in the maintenance of the Company’s standard costing system.
Track and report on capital expenditures.
Assist in the analysis and validation of our financial results.
Support AR and AP accounting functions as needed.
Investigate and resolve accounting issues when they arise.
Collaborate/Engage with other cross-functional teams.
Prepare monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy in reporting and ledger maintenance.
Performs other duties and prepares various ad hoc reports as assigned or needed.
