About The Position

At Dauch, our Cost Accountants directly support the controller in carrying out responsibilities of the finance department. Cost Accountants determine and implement cost-accounting procedures and methods, prepare and analyze cost reports and audits, and examine unusual cost records to ensure data is allocated accurately.

Requirements

  • Completed Bachelors degree with major in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance or related field
  • 2+ years experience in a finance role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and overhead allocation

Responsibilities

  • Determine and implement cost accounting procedures and methods aligned with industry best practices.
  • Prepare and analyze cost reports and conduct regular costing audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Examine unusual cost records and ensure proper allocation of cost data across departments and products.
  • Establish standard costs for new products in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
  • Monitor and report on cost variances, including material, labor, and overhead.
  • Perform accounting for price variances and overhead recovery on a regular basis.
  • Provide detailed analysis of cost drivers and trends to support operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and forecasts related to cost performance.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering teams to understand cost structures and changes, ensuring requisitions are properly coded.
  • Support internal audits and external financial reviews related to cost accounting.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned
