Cost Accountant

T1 EnergyAustin, TX
Hybrid

About The Position

T1 Energy is looking to hire an experienced Cost Accountant to be based at our Austin, TX HQ with occasional travel to our facility in Wilmer, TX. This is a hands-on, critical role for someone who thrives on the plant floor as much as they do in the numbers, managing and improving manufacturing cost accounting processes, strengthening financial controls, and helping drive a faster, more efficient monthly close. You'll work closely with plant operations, supply chain, and corporate finance, while also serving as a key finance partner to the GM for ad hoc accounting and financial analysis. If you're a proactive, process-minded accountant who loves the complexity of manufacturing cost structures and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and build something better, this role is for you.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle, specifically costing, inventory, and general ledger modules.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures and variance analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively on-site in a fast-paced plant environment.
  • Strong process documentation and SOP development experience.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and analyze product and manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, overhead, and variances.
  • Perform standard cost maintenance, cost roll-ups, and variance analysis within Oracle.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain to understand cost drivers and improve cost visibility across the plant.

  • Support cycle counts and physical inventories, including planning, reconciliation, variance investigation, and adjustment documentation.
  • Analyze inventory variances — usage, yield, scrap, and obsolescence — and partner with operations to drive root cause resolution.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of manufacturing transactions.
  • Support and continuously improve the month-end close process with a focus on speed, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Prepare and review cost-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist in management reporting related to plant performance, margins, and operational KPIs.
  • Help establish and document cost accounting best practices in a growing manufacturing environment.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen controls.
