About The Position

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial records and reports and overseeing accounting operations from preparing journal entries, reviewing inventory counts, completions of monthly account reconciliations. Create a robust cost reporting system while supporting the successful growth of the organization.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of five years’ relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting and/or Finance is required.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles and various cost accounting systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and financial statement work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced skills/knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with accounting and finance within an ERP environment is required, Oracle is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Accounting / Finance experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Cost accounting experience with dairy industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze cost reports, monitor cost variances, and identify inefficiencies to support budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Monitor inventory levels. Adjust inventories based on physicals counts. Ensure inventory accuracy and analyze the impact of inventory counts on financial statements. Verification of correct standards and review of variances.
  • Work with plants to ensure work orders are properly and timely being completed and closed.
  • Review and reconcile milk receipts and deliveries.
  • Review obsolete and overage inventory for financial reserves to cover possible risk.
  • Perform cycle count audits.
  • Prepare, enter, and review journal entries, supporting the month-end process for the organization.
  • Responsible for reconciliation of balance sheet and income statement accounts, partnering with operations finance around variances.
  • Assist with audit requests ensuring comprehensive backup and support is included.
  • Perform various analyses on specific general ledger accounts, budget to actual reports, or forecast to actual reports.
  • Cross Train on the Fixed Asset Module in Oracle, including managing mass additions, closing projects, and monthly fixed asset closures.
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic business decisions.
  • Continuously drive for improvements in financial processes, reporting tools, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and analyze financial results, KPIs, and performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Assist with a more robust costing structure implementation.
  • Foster a collaborative, high performing team culture.
  • Travel to sites to build collaborative relationships with inventory team.
  • Support the monthly Finished Goods cost standard roll up.
