About The Position

Champion Home Builder, Inc. is seeking a full-time Cost Accountant in the Laurinburg, North Carolina region. The role manages product costing and margin analysis for multiple manufactured-home brands, including options, and evaluates the costing impact of product modifications and customizations. It develops costing estimates and maintains master model and option price files for new-business quotations, as well as home configuration and standard costing systems. The Cost Accountant maintains costing information in the Navision ERP system, including bills of material, standard construction specifications, models, options, and approved prices. The role supports pricing decisions by keeping margin information current, auditing production-floor bills of material against as-built items and quantities, and tracking commodity costs. It also supports inventory accounting and valuation, physical inventory counts, and purchase price variance management, while coordinating with Sales, Engineering, Materials, Production, the General Manager, and the Controller. The position is classified as exempt. A bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least two years of related experience are preferred. Manufacturing cost-accounting experience is preferred; Navision or other ERP experience and knowledge of manufactured housing or construction are helpful. A background check and drug screen are required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
Minimum of two years of related experience preferred.
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Leadership and organizational skills, with drive to excel and perform at the next level.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and adopt or modify methods and standards to meet assigned duties and objectives.
Ability to research and solve problems, devise solutions and recommendations, and report findings.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as square and lineal footages, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume as they relate to costing.
Background check and drug screen required.

Nice To Haves

Accounting and costing experience in a manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

Maintain costs in the Navision ERP system and create and update bills of material for models and options.
Maintain the local Navision system, run system updates, coordinate with the corporate office on updates and problem resolution, and train others.
Audit production-floor bills of material for models and options and update Navision records to reflect as-built items and quantities.
Maintain standard construction specifications for each brand.
Approve all job orders before production.
Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Materials, and Production.
Track commodity costs and monitor whether material surcharges need to be initiated or increased.
Keep costing information current to provide margin data for models and options and inform price adjustments.
Maintain models, options, and Navision price files with approved prices for quotations.
Assist with quarterly physical inventory counts and valuation.
Maintain the standard costing system and manage purchase price variances.
Assist the Controller with accounting for raw materials, work in process, finished goods, and cost of goods sold, including valuations and reserves.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Manage product costing and margin analysis for manufactured-home brands and options, including the costing impact of modifications and customizations.
Develop costing estimates and maintain master model and option price files for new-business quotations.
