About The Position

VPG is a global leader in precision measurement sensing technologies. DSI Dynamic Systems Inc., part of VPG, is a leader in thermal-mechanical simulation systems. Its Gleeble systems help researchers and engineers characterize material behavior under controlled temperature and strain conditions for applications in aerospace, defense, energy, manufacturing, and advanced materials development.

The Manufacturing Cost Accountant is responsible for the costing and controlling function for a product line at Measurement Systems. The role provides monthly operational reporting and analysis of sales, material, labor and overhead costs, variances, and profit contribution. It also oversees inventory and work-order control and SOX compliance, supports project and product costing and profitability analysis, and contributes to cost-saving programs. This is an onsite position in Poestenkill, New York, with required international travel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Seven years of experience with costing and cost controlling, with an accounting background in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with the Syspro ERP system.
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling, data analysis, and report preparation.
• Ability to travel internationally.

• CPA or CMA certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the monthly operational reporting package, including analysis of sales, material, labor and overhead costs, variances, and profit contribution.
• Perform product and project costing, maintain costing parameters, and analyze profitability.
• Prepare gross-margin reconciliations and cost-variance analyses.
• Oversee inventory and work-order valuation, control, reserves, and physical counts.
• Review audits and support SOX compliance and internal controls.
• Support management with project profitability, actual-cost analysis, and cost-saving programs.
