About The Position

Champion Home Builder, Inc. is hiring a full-time Cost Accountant in the Laurinburg, North Carolina region. The role manages product costing and margin analysis for multiple manufactured-home brands, including options. It determines the cost impact of product modifications and customizations, prepares estimates for new business, maintains model and option price files for quotations, and manages home configuration and standard-costing systems. The Cost Accountant maintains product cost and bill-of-material data in the Navision ERP system, supports local system maintenance, and works with corporate staff on updates and problem resolution. The position also supports inventory counting and valuation, purchase-price variance management, and accounting for raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, and cost of goods sold. The role interacts with Sales, Engineering, Materials, and Production and requires advanced Microsoft Excel skills, strong organization and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to make independent judgments. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least two years of related experience are preferred. Manufacturing accounting and costing experience are preferred; Navision or other ERP experience and knowledge of manufactured housing or construction are helpful. A background check and drug screen are required.

Requirements

Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and adopt or modify methods and standards to meet assigned duties and objectives.
Ability to research and solve problems, develop solutions and recommendations, and report findings.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as square and lineal footage, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume as they relate to costing.
Background check and drug screen required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
At least two years of related experience.
Accounting and costing experience in a manufacturing industry.
Experience with Navision or another ERP system.
Knowledge of the manufactured housing or construction industry.

Responsibilities

Maintain product costs and bills of material for models and options in the Navision ERP system, including updating obsolete items and quantities to support accurate margin information and pricing decisions.
Maintain the local Navision system, run system update programs, coordinate with the corporate office on updates and problem resolution, and train others.
Audit bills of material on the production floor and update Navision records to reflect as-built items and quantities.
Maintain standard construction specifications for each brand.
Approve all job orders before production.
Work with Sales, Engineering, Materials, and Production departments.
Track commodity costs and monitor when material surcharges should be initiated or increased.
Keep costing information current to support margin analysis and price adjustments for models and options.
Maintain models, options, and Navision price files with approved quotation prices.
Assist with quarterly physical inventory counts and valuation.
Maintain the standard-costing system and manage purchase-price variances.
Assist the Controller with accounting for inventory and cost of goods sold, including valuations and reserves.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
