About The Position

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for reviewing and posting daily manufacturing accounting entries, analyzing cost and variance trends, and preparing daily operating performance analysis. This role involves reviewing new BOMs and Routers for accuracy, performing monthly inventory valuation and reconciliation, and evaluating cost review requests. The Cost Accountant will also process CAPEX requests, perform data analysis, manage data, prepare and monitor operating forecasts, establish labor and overhead rates, and perform annual cost rolls and inventory revaluations. Additionally, the role requires assisting other employees, demonstrating understanding of company values, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or any related field
  • 5+ years supporting a manufacturing business
  • 3-5+ years of Cost accounting
  • Experience with Corporate accounting reporting and deadlines
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Ability to communicate clearly by conveying and receiving ideas, information and direction effectively
  • Ability to demonstrate adequate job knowledge to deliver a world class performance

Responsibilities

  • Review and post daily manufacturing accounting entries.
  • Review cost and variance trends; research significant variations and recommend appropriate response.
  • Prepare daily operating performance analysis; including inventory movements, sales, and cost of goods sold, to identify significant issues in a timely fashion.
  • Review new BOMs and Routers submitted for cost freeze for accuracy.
  • Perform monthly inventory valuation and reconciliation of cost ledgers.
  • Evaluate and approve cost review requests, including operating impact analysis.
  • Process CAPEX requests, track spend progress and capitalize assets as required.
  • Perform data analysis using reporting tools as required to perform job duties or as requested by management staff.
  • Perform relevant data management tasks.
  • Prepare and monitor operating forecasts based on budget. Review significant variations and analyze operating impact.
  • Establish labor and overhead rates in line with operating budget.
  • Perform annual cost roll and inventory revaluation. Work with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components.
  • Assist other employees with information and/or analysis when requested.
