About The Position

The Cost Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial operations by analyzing, tracking, and reporting production and operational costs. This role ensures accurate cost allocation, monitors inventory and manufacturing expenses, and provides financial insights that support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. This position plays a key role in helping the company maintain cost efficiency and improve overall profitability.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or production environments.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory accounting.
  • Knowledge of standard costing, activity-based costing (ABC), and variance analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of accounting or cost accounting experience
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and analyze standard costs for products and services.
  • Complete daily settlement of production orders and inventory adjustments.
  • Prepare cost accounting reports and financial analyses.
  • Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory accounts.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual cost variance analyses.
  • Analyze manufacturing, labor, material, and overhead costs.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Review and validate bills of materials (BOMs) and routing information.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Prepare journal entries related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Investigate cost discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operations, procurement, production, and finance teams to improve cost efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting procedures and documentation.
  • Generate management reports highlighting cost trends and performance metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
