The Cost Accountant will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and communicating the profitability of the plant’s manufacturing operations. This role involves producing detailed reports on efficiencies, plant production, and key financial information for management review. The Cost Accountant will examine production costs, gain/loss, and month-end closing data, collect and analyze operational data, and complete monthly cost analysis of controllable expense accounts and material cost variance accounts. This position will also forecast, analyze, and report plant performance to leadership teams, gain understanding, explain, and reconcile manufacturing financial variances, and prepare month-end close activities. Additionally, the Cost Accountant will identify resources and solutions to control or eliminate gaps to plan and/or plant performance goals, participate in daily/weekly plant meetings, drive accounting processes to ensure accurate books and records and compliance with key control requirements including Sarbanes Oxley, and provide support and documentation for monthly SOX controls, interim SOX testing, and audits. The role also includes assisting in building and managing the annual budget for the plant, participating in the annual update of Bill of Materials (BOMs), Production Routings, and annual cost roll, recognizing problems and generating solutions/ideas, running manufacturing accounting and labor backflush on work orders, identifying and resolving production entry discrepancies or issues, researching and resolving purchasing invoice issues, and supporting the cycle count program and annual physical counts within the plant.
