About The Position
The Cost Accountant supports construction project accounting by coordinating contract closeout, job-cost updates, subcontractor invoice processing, customer billing, and financial reporting. The role serves as a liaison between Project Management and Accounting, helps Project Managers maintain Schedule of Values, and supports compliance and reporting requirements for subcontractors and customers. The position is not eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 3–5 years of construction accounting, job cost, and contract experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a strong ability to follow through.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with ERP systems such as Viewpoint (Vista).
Responsibilities
- Oversee the contract closeout process and act as a liaison between Project Management and Accounting to ensure timely completion.
- Assist Project Managers with realignment of the Schedule of Values.
- Assist with certified payroll, EEO, and OCI reporting for subcontractors, as well as customer labor rate breakdowns.
- Coordinate monthly projection meetings with the Assistant Controller and assist with Over/Under and Work in Progress (WIP) reporting.
- Track and follow quoted pending extras and No POs.
- Review and distribute subcontractor invoices for Project Manager approval and support vendor invoice processing and customer billing as needed.
- Update job cost as required by direct cost entries.
