About The Position

The Analyst/Cost Accountant position is responsible for financial planning and analysis, maintaining sub-ledger accounts related to inventory, cost of sales, expenses, manufacturing spending and variances per GAAP requirements, for the PSI Bearings operation. In addition, the position supports operations management by utilizing expert knowledge of the company’s ERP system, costing and expense tracking systems to provide prompt and relevant reports to decision makers to assist their efforts to improve production efficiency while reducing spending and waste. This position also provides improvements to the financial systems by recommending and supporting development of product line reports that highlight performance of specific business segments. May lead and direct the work of others. Assists in communicating and monitoring compliance and reporting requirements as well as supporting the closing process. This position is located in Simi Valley, California.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration is required
  • 3-5 years of hands-on cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of GAAP is required
  • Hands on experience in financial closings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Well versed in analyzing vast data utilizing Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate financial reporting and forecasting
  • Performs month-end closing, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Analyzes variance to budget and forecast.
  • Performs daily review and reporting of inventory and labor activity
  • Supports maintenance, review, and updates of standard costs
  • Guides manufacturing in performing routine cycle counting activity and audits results
  • Provides actionable analysis to identify and reduce Job Order Variances
  • Makes assessments and recommendations based on review and analysis of variances to standards
  • Leads quarterly slow or non-moving inventory (E&O) process
  • Influences across multiple functional dimensions and communicates and educates management and staff level personnel on financial expectations, audits adherence to expectations
  • Supports the business with analysis of profitability overall and by relevant business segments
  • Resolves problems in an expeditious fashion
  • Assist in annual budgeting process
  • Support with ad-hoc projects and financial reporting.
