About The Position

Determined, imaginative, curious—if these are some of the ways you describe yourself, we want to learn more about you! At TC Energy, we are proud to connect the world to the energy it needs. Guided by our values of safety in every step, personal accountability, one team and active learning, we deliver the critical energy that North America and the world rely on while balancing reliability, affordability and sustainability. The Opportunity TC Energy is seeking an experienced Integrity Threat Engineer with working knowledge of pipeline integrity, including US federal regulations, corrosion mechanisms, and cathodic protection, to support and optimize external and internal corrosion integrity programs across 31,000+ miles of natural gas transmission pipelines. In this role, you will partner closely with corrosion and integrity subject matter experts to develop and execute annual integrity threat programs, build and track key performance indicators (KPIs), and continuously improve processes and procedures. You'll evaluate inline inspection (ILI) and related integrity data to develop remediation strategies, oversee reliability-based assessments and dig/reassessment recommendations, and provide technical deliverables such as engineering assessments, technical memorandums, feasibility evaluations, and risk studies. Working cross-functionally with Project Management, Integrity Support, Gas Operations, Commercial, and Integrated Planning, you will help ensure integrity management activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations, codes, standards, and industry best practices—supporting TC Energy's commitment to public safety and environmental protection. As a member of the US Corrosion Management team—a central hub across various TC Energy technical and operational functions—you'll bring strong communication and camaraderie skills, a drive for collaboration, and a keen interest in learning new technical subjects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Corrosion, Chemical, or related discipline). Advanced degree preferred.
  • For Canadian candidates, registered as a P.Eng in the prevailing jurisdiction in good standing (e.g., APEGA in Alberta).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in pipeline integrity management, with a focus on external and internal corrosion risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in interpreting and applying US federal pipeline safety regulations (e.g., 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195).
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting inline inspection data, or other integrity assessment techniques to drive effective remediation strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pipeline integrity with gas transmission pipeline systems
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent work ethics and strong desire to learn and develop
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to tailor delivery to suit the audience
  • Demonstrative initiative, willing and able to identify new opportunities for improvement and bring them forward
  • Highly organized and able to effectively prioritize responsibilities and self-direct work

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, execution, and optimization of annual external and internal corrosion integrity threat programs for TC Energy's natural gas transmission pipeline system
  • Conduct detailed reviews of consequence area assessments and determine appropriate integrity assessment methods, strategy adjustments, and remediation approaches
  • Develop integrity projects, prepare engineering justifications, and integrate approved work into company planning and tracking systems
  • Perform quarterly program and project reviews, updating integrity plans based on inspection results, operating conditions, and emerging risks
  • Review and analyze inline inspection (ILI) data, including reliability-based assessments, dig recommendations, and reassessment strategies, to identify and mitigate corrosion threats
  • Support ILI bundling and optimization by evaluating schedule modification requests and assessing program-wide impacts
  • Provide technical input to asset performance evaluations, corrosion risk assessments, and integrity due diligence supporting business development, acquisitions, and divestitures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders—including Project Management, Integrity Support, Gas Operations, Commercial, and Integrated Planning—to ensure successful and compliant execution of integrity management activities, demonstrating technical acumen and fostering a collaborative environment
  • Make decisive decisions with limited information and manage time effectively while evaluating inspection data and developing remediation strategies under time constraints
  • Support the development, revision, and implementation of internal standards, procedures, specifications, metrics, and KPIs to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with industry best practices
  • Prepare and review engineering assessments, technical memorandums, feasibility studies, and risk evaluations using sound engineering judgment and principles
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring integrity threat programs progress safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating emerging technologies and platforms to enhance corrosion threat management and pipeline integrity programs
