About The Position

The Corrosion Technician provides corrosion control services to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements for pipeline and terminal assets for a specified geographic area. The Corrosion Technician, under the general direction of the Corrosion Supervisor, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs corrosion equipment for pipeline facilities in accordance with company policies, procedures and regulations. This role will office out of Odessa, TX. Travel will be up to 25% of the time. This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment. Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • 1 or more years of experience with current corrosion control methods
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in Corrosion Technology or related field
  • 1 or more years of experience with AC Mitigation
  • 1 or more years of experience with various types of CP troubleshooting equipment
  • 1 or more years of experience with corrosion control issues associated with pipeline operations
  • NACE CP Level I Certification or higher or equivalent certification
  • Beginner level of proficiency in SAP, CPDM or other Cathodic Protection Data Management systems
  • Ability to read and understand CIS, DCVG, ACVG, PCM, and other forms of CP data
  • Working knowledge of DOT 195 $ 192 (49 CFR 195 & 192)
  • Working knowledge of Corrosion Control Issues associated with the operations of Pipeline, Terminals, and LNG assets
  • 1 or more years of experience actively participating in Regulatory Audit

Responsibilities

  • Routine work - test station maintenance and repairs, rectifier repairs, RMU repairs, field oversight, excavation support.
  • Completing annual cathodic protection surveys.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting CP systems using various types of CP equipment.
  • Completing rectifier and bond inspections and rectifier maintenance.
  • Complete rectifier readings / replacement.
  • Bimonthly rectifier inspection and DOT annual survey.
  • Complete test lead installs/replacement, cad welding
  • Evaluating and providing recommendations to mitigate corrosion control issues.
  • Coordinating the implementation of corrosion control projects.
  • Installation and maintenance of corrosion coupons.
  • Monitoring and evaluating internal corrosion control systems.
  • Completing and issuing corrosion compliance reports.
  • Providing corrosion control support on integrated project teams.
  • Coordinating the efforts of operation and maintenance personnel when they are providing corrosion control services.
  • Coordinating the efforts of contractors with when they are providing corrosion control services.
  • Participating in the Maintenance Pigging Program - water sampling - see what's in the trap.
  • Participating in ILI tool runs - water sampling - see what's in the trap.
  • Supporting IMP data analysis & assessments.
  • Supporting Pipeline Integrity Programs.
  • Field support for excavation and CIS crews.
  • Span/exposure consultant.
  • Participate in field anomaly repairs - CP and coating support.
  • Participate in field coating repairs.
  • Field surveys-atmospheric.
  • Data collection and upload.
  • Utilizing CPDM (Cathodic Protection Data Management) software to record, monitor and evaluate CP data and Internal Coupon Data to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizing SAP for tracking PMs and WOs.
  • Assigned area for DOT/PHMSA compliance in PCS database.
  • Participating in regulatory and corporate audits.
  • Interface with third party technician for line crossing and/or interference test.
  • Participating with teams in the corrosion function regarding best practices & compliance issues.
  • Allowed to focus on and perfect basic tasks needed for development without interference from higher tasks they are not efficient in.
  • Work with Specialist to understand and develop skills in higher level tasks.
  • Achieving certification through technical experience, education, examinations, and references. Annually maintaining certification through professional activities
  • Assist in preparing proposed budgets for corrosion control programs and tracking approved budgets.
  • Time spent more efficiently on routine field tasks.
  • Reduce need for contractor support.
  • Respond to emergencies as requested.
