About The Position

The Corrosion Technician I is responsible for the field level scope associated with the various projects undertaken by CSCL. To achieve this objective, the corrosion technician’s primary responsibilities are to complete tasks related to the installation, energization, and maintenance of cathodic protection systems, perform over-the-line depth of cover, close interval cathodic protection, and voltage gradient / coating surveys, complete tasks related to field testing of AC mitigation projects, provide in-field training and development of junior project team members, maintain and operate assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment, and complete specific project task objectives. Additionally, the role involves operations administration, including responsible for the profitable delivery of Corrosion Service’s products and services in the field, responding promptly to Customer/Project issues in co-operation with the Team Leads and project staff, providing on-site technical advice to team personnel, following Corrosion Service’s and clients’ operations HSE procedures and policies, ensuring all required reporting is submitted to the Team Leads/Project Engineers, completing timesheets and expenses in a timely manner, and following inventory removal/addition procedures. Health and Safety responsibilities include attending monthly safety meetings, following emergency response procedures, completion of field HSE documentation, and contributing to safety meetings. Personnel responsibilities include working with other technical staff in a supportive and positive manner, developing the culture of employees' attitudes towards work and each other, and maintaining a business casual dress code when in the office. General responsibilities include following company policies and procedures, suggesting improvements, maintaining a professional attitude, working well with colleagues, customers, and suppliers, and following branch assigned hours of work requirements.

Requirements

  • A minimum of at least one (1) years’ experience.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and willingness spend long days on foot in remote terrain.
  • Willingness to travel for work (>70%).
  • Must be physically fit, willing to routinely work outdoors, and able to lift 30kg on a regular basis.
  • The candidate should have solid hands-on technical capabilities, valid driver’s license, be willing to travel, and work overtime.
  • Requires oversight on medium to high complexity projects, limited oversight on low complexity projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-Secondary Education in Engineering or Technologist program is considered an asset.
  • Good oral, written and problem-solving skills are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks related to the installation, energization, and maintenance of cathodic protection systems.

  • Provide on-site technical advice to team personnel as required. Provide Team Leads information regarding technical problems to allow a remedial plan to be determined in a cost-effective manner.
  • Follow Corrosion Service’s and clients’ operations HSE procedures and policies.
  • Ensure that all required reporting is submitted to the Team Leads/Project Engineers
  • Complete timesheets and expenses in a timely manner to ensure project costs are accurate.
  • Follow inventory removal/addition procedures to ensure accurate counts.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Follow emergency response procedures.
  • Completion of field HSE documentation such as HSE inspections, checklists, FLRA, VIR, OBS etc.
  • To be a contributor to safety meetings.
  • Work with other technical staff in a supportive and positive manner.
  • Develop the culture of employee’s attitudes towards work and each other. Code of Conduct etc.
  • Maintain a business casual dress code (business formal upon request) when in the office.
  • To follow the company policies and procedures.
  • To suggest any changes to current policies and procedures that would result in improved performance.
  • To maintain a professional attitude.
  • To work well with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
  • Follow branch assigned hours of work requirements.
