About The Position

Vision Point Systems, Inc. is currently recruiting for a talented, innovative engineering technician. This position is housed onsite at customer locations in Bethesda, Maryland and Olney, MD. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Prepare corrosion testing specimens to include abrasive blasting of metal coupons, coating applications using various techniques including spray painting, rolling, and brush among others. Collect objective quality evidence (OQE) that specimens were prepared correctly. This may include verifying metal coupon surface profiles/roughness, checking coating film thickness, or otherwise comparing specimen preparation techniques against manufacturer-recommended specifications. Assist with design and construction of test apparatuses to include rapid prototyping, basic machining, and assembly. Maintain functionality of equipment (bench-top testing equipment, large scale corrosion cabinets, blasting cabinets, etc.), including troubleshooting non-functioning equipment, replacing broken components, checking equipment calibration, and scheduling for calibration to be performed. Assist engineers with test program execution. This may involve performance of laboratory and/or field tests, helping with specimen evaluation and data collection, and/or performing various inspections in support of corrosion-related projects. Assist Government personnel with laboratory upkeep. This may include maintaining hazardous materials inventory lists, organizing laboratory inventory, and assisting with general maintenance and cleaning of laboratory spaces.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Be able to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Must demonstrate qualities to work with precision and pay special attention to details.
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have 2+ years of experience working in a lab type setting or some type of equivalent experience.
  • Must be willing to work in both Bethesda, MD and Olney, MD to meet customer requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with and supporting DoW programs is highly desired.
  • Experience with materials and mechanical testing, corrosion prevention, coatings application and evaluation, and vehicle/ship platforms is desired.
  • Experience collecting and compiling data is desired.
  • Associates degree or higher in Science, Engineering or related field is desired.
