About The Position
The Corrections Utility Plant Operator position with the Department of Corrections offers an exciting chance to work with important facility systems at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township. Requirements
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain boiler equipment, assess system performance, and complete routine and emergency tasks
- Operate and service pumps, fans, and other auxiliary systems used in plant operations
- Test boiler water chemistry, track chemical levels, and maintain accurate logs
- Clean work areas, organize supplies, and perform daily inventories
- Oversee inmate work crews, monitor movement, and enforce tool and supply control
- Communicate with supervisors and complete required paperwork and inventory records
