About The Position
Corrections Services Specialists provide direct supervision of Incarcerated Individuals in a correctional facility. In this role, you'll help prepare for their future release back to the community when eligible. Corrections Service Specialist work closely with local probation offices, courts, law enforcement agencies and other state agencies to get services for incarcerated Individuals. You will also make referrals for programming and classifications for incarcerated individuals.
Requirements
- Two years or more as a CSS I.
- Must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
- Must pass Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment (unless a current classified state employee seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or exercising re-employment rights).
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree and experience in the delivery of casework, planning, and evaluation of offenders in a correctional setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision of Incarcerated Individuals in a correctional facility.
- Prepare incarcerated individuals for future release back to the community.
- Work closely with local probation offices, courts, law enforcement agencies and other state agencies to get services for incarcerated Individuals.
- Make referrals for programming and classifications for incarcerated individuals.
- Perform duties in a correctional facility or field office.
- Interact with potentially dangerous correctional clients.
- Perform evening, weekend, and alternating shift duty as required.
- Perform field travel as necessary.
- Make work-related court appearances.
