About The Position

As a Corrections Residence Counselor II, you will lead a team of staff responsible for maintaining the safety and security of facility daily operations. The ideal candidate is a motivating, experienced leader with strong interpersonal skills and effective at working in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires three (3) years progressively responsible work experience such as could be gained at the Corrections Residence Counselor I level.
  • Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of work experience with at-risk populations in a correctional, law enforcement, residential, human services setting, or similar field.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working with diverse and/or multicultural individuals.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working collaboratively with law enforcement, social service agencies, community organizations or similar entities.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience identifying, prioritizing, and effectively completing duties and tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience ensuring rules, policies, and regulations are adhered to.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working in a team setting.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working with confidential information/documents.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of working experience utilizing conflict resolution, crisis management, verbal de-escalation or similar strategies.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience utilizing departmental or equivalent computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Utilizes computer, e-mail, fax, scanner, two-way radio equipment, Offender360 (O360), and the Disciplinary Tracking System (DTS) to accomplish duties.
  • Monitors staff and timekeeping areas for compliance.
  • Directs and coordinates transportation services.
  • Works with other departments as needed, including contractual staff and interns.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
