About The Position

The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services (PSES) has significant oversight and involvement in public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. Within PSES, the Correctional Services Division (CSD) aims to create a better Alberta by supporting, guiding, and inspiring clients to make positive, sustainable, and lawful choices. This role is responsible for the analysis, evaluation, and implementation of programs within Alberta’s Correctional Services Division. It supports the department's mandate of facilitating effective case management, program delivery, supervision, and rehabilitation of correctional services involved adults and youth by promoting continuous quality improvement through communication and consultation with Senior Managers on emerging evidence-based best practices. The role also provides support to correctional programming by developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and processes that relate to ongoing quality and consistency in program delivery throughout the Correctional Services Division. The Analyst regularly liaises with working groups of branch managers, supervisors, and frontline staff for program development and implementation strategies, as well as the development and monitoring of program standards. The role coordinates and completes Ministry briefing materials, represents the Correctional Services Division on various committees and working groups, and ensures the Ministry is provided with current and reliable information regarding emerging correctional practices and trends that may affect operational practices, potentially requiring new policy development and project management.

Requirements

  • University graduation in a related field (eg Criminal Justice, Sociology, Social Sciences etc.) plus at least 4 years progressively responsible related experience.
  • Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in analysis and project coordination within a team and individually
  • Knowledge and understanding of case management, rehabilitative programs/services and operations within correctional services or human services.
  • Effective communication both verbal and written
  • Experience working on projects is an asset.

Responsibilities
