About The Position
This role gives you the chance to manage staff, direct daily security activities, and help keep operations running smoothly at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette. Requirements
- One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility.
- Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Direct and evaluate subordinate officers to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Organize daily schedules and monitor inmate movements during work, recreation, and meal periods
- Conduct tours, observe inmate behavior, and report notable changes or concerns
- Oversee inmate transports, visitor searches, and vehicle inspections to prevent contraband and escape
- Investigate policy violations, recommend discipline, and participate in fact-finding sessions
- Prepare and submit required reports related to inmate activities, staff performance, and movement records
