About The Position

This position coordinates the operations of the laundry department and equipment within the laundry department. The individual in this role will establish preventative maintenance schedules, prepare maintenance work orders, request major repairs, and make minor repairs to equipment. The position will also assign work and monitor individuals in custody assigned to the laundry in receiving, washing, packing, and delivering laundry within the facility to ensure peak efficiency of the laundry operations. This position will maintain records and prepare reports of laundry activity. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires one (1) year of supervisory experience in a commercial, institutional or state-operated facility laundry.
  • Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six (6) months of employment.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the operation of the laundry department and equipment.
  • Assigns work and monitors individuals in custody assigned to the laundry in receiving, sorting, washing, repairing, ironing, packing, and delivering laundry within the facility to ensure peak efficiency of laundry operation.
  • Enforces and maintains the security, sanitation, and safety of the laundry.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of laundry supplies.
  • Maintains records of individuals in custody, operations, and equipment maintenance.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
