About The Position

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a motivated and skilled candidate to serve as the Corrections Food Service Supervisor III at IYC Warrenville. Under the direction of the Food Service Program Manager, the incumbent will serve as a full line supervisor. The incumbent will plan, schedule and publish menus for general and therapeutic diets, and will also direct and monitor staff in training youth in food preparation.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.
  • Requires three years of institution food preparation experience such as could be gained as a Corrections Food Service Supervisor I or II, or supervisory experience in a large-scale food service operation.
  • Requires possession of a current Food Service Sanitation Certificate issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health or requires possession of a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification from a program accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Conference for Food Protection (CFP).
  • Requires the ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Requires completion of an orientation-training course within six (6) months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Food Service Program Manager, serves as a full line supervisor.
  • Provides input into food production by directing and initiating maintenance of proper health, sanitation, and safety standards in preparing, serving, and storing foods.
  • Plans, schedules, and publishes menus for general and therapeutic diets.
  • Directs and monitors staff in training youth in food preparation.
  • Serves as Food Services Program Manager in his/her absence.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
