About The Position

Become a Corrections Community Center Monitor with the Department of Corrections (DOC) and bring strong energy and professionalism to the Scranton Community Corrections Center (CCC). This role places you on the front line of a secure correctional environment, where you guide reentrants and support daily facility operations. Requirements

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania is required.
  • You must be willing and able to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
  • You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure security of the center and observe reentrant behavior through direct contact and CCTV
  • Conduct counts, searches, and inspections to maintain order and detect contraband
  • Lead new reentrant orientation and review policies, schedules, and responsibilities
  • Verify reentrant destinations, administer tests, and document observations and misconducts
  • Provide information to visitors and respond appropriately to concerns and complaints
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for law enforcement and participate in legal proceedings when required
