Colorado Correctional Industries (CCi) is a cash-funded, self-supporting division of the Colorado Department of Corrections. This position ensures the safety and security of the general public, staff, and inmates. It prepares inmates for community re-entry by promoting the Colorado Department of Corrections Mission, Vision, and Values while adhering to a high level of integrity and commitment. The role involves maintaining safety and security through clear communication, training staff and inmates on the proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment, and chemicals. It enforces security procedures, monitors the workplace and offender behavior, initiates reprimands, and physically controls inmates if necessary. The position also monitors, supervises, and escorts inmates, performs counts and transportation, responds to emergencies, and writes reports. It ensures offender workers are trained, tasks are completed on time, and evaluations are done. The role tracks offender hours and pay, creates schedules, assigns tasks, resolves grievances, reduces idleness, and creates real-life work opportunities. It holds inmates accountable for attendance and uses PCDCIS Chronological Entry to report behavior. The position ensures the safe, secure, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective execution of assigned tasks and projects by performing hands-on instructional work alongside staff and offender crews. Primary responsibilities include training and supervising inmates in profitable work ventures such as light construction, warehouse management, shipping and receiving, and delivery/setup of CCi products. It maintains customer relations, delivers customer service training, and develops leads for new customers. The role ensures operational flexibility by providing sector and statewide logistics support, working in multiple locations under varying schedules, and performing overtime. It operates State Fleet and CDOC vehicles in compliance with guidelines. It implements facility policies and procedures for safety and security through control of tools, materials, and supplies. The position is responsible for offender movement and accountability, managing the program operating budget, and maintaining inventories. It recommends capital equipment purchases and provides supervision, training, scheduling, and evaluations for offender workers, recording attendance for payroll. It develops and maintains a database of offender training records and ensures the safety and security of the public, facility staff, and offenders by evaluating work conditions and instructing on safety methods. It provides custody, surveillance, supervisory, transport, shakedown, and count duties, ensuring proper control of keys, tools, equipment, and chemicals, and compliance with all policy/procedural guidelines. This position may be eliminated if funding is discontinued, and relocation may be required.
